Listenly ("the app", "we", "us") is a text-to-speech reader that reads web articles and text aloud on your device. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. We designed Listenly to keep your data on your device.
The app saves your preferences locally on your device using Android's standard storage. This data never leaves your device and is removed if you uninstall the app. It includes:
When you enter a web address, the app requests that page directly from the website you specified in order to extract its text for reading aloud. These requests go to the website you chose, not to us. We do not log, store, or transmit the addresses or content to our own servers.
Speech is generated using your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. The text you read is processed by your device and is not sent to us.
Premium is a one-time, in-app purchase processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details or your Google account information. The app only receives a confirmation of whether the purchase was completed, which it stores locally as a simple on/off setting. Google's handling of payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Listenly offers optional rewarded ads served by Google AdMob. You are never required to watch an ad to use the app; ads appear only if you choose to watch one to unlock additional free features (for example, extra sentence skips). To serve these ads, AdMob may collect and process your device's advertising identifier and related device information. This data is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads. Premium users do not see ads.
The app uses internet access to fetch the web pages you ask it to read. It does not access your contacts, location, photos, or microphone.
Listenly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
